MARIAM SEDDIQ x Mrs Fray - For the Bold & the Beautiful

When we founded Mrs Fray, we knew that we were at the beginning of summiting the gigantic mountain of revolutionising bridal style in Canberra. As we know of our fair city, it has a reputation for being quiet… safe… predictable… None of those words are generally esteemed in the bridal fashion realm.

But time and time again over the past eight months, we’ve watched women come through the doors of Mrs Fray and perhaps start at a more conservative style of bridal wear before ending up on the completely other end with a cutting edge, modern bridal gown. Amy and I shoot each other emojis from our eyes of raised eyebrows and clapping hands, ‘you go, girl!’

So Canberran women seem to be not as safe and predictable as one might’ve originally thought. In fact, you continue to prove that theory wrong with your silk two piece gowns, statement earrings, and snakeskin boots. You just might be 100 times braver than we thought.

With that, we feel like we’re already halfway up the mountainside, looking out over the city below and marvelling at the view. We’re well on our way to not only revolutionising the ‘norm’ of bridal in Canberra, but barging in and flipping the whole bloody table over.

Next weekend we’re bringing a label into our calico walls that we are supremely excited to showcase for you all. Mariam Seddiq has established herself as a respected designer in her own right, but has branched out into bridal over the past few years with jaw-dropping results. With her recent release of C A P S U L E 2, she has continued to school us that there are no longer rules of convention in modern bridal. For those of you brides looking at statement accessories and feeling like they just don’t have enough impact, Mariam’s work could be exactly the brand for you - talk about making a statement not with a piece, but with the whole.

Let’s just take a wee ride around her C A P S U L E 1 Collection to get an idea for this gloriousness:

We say it over and over again at Mrs Fray, but the best way to find out what your bridal style is going to be is process of elimination; somehow, sometimes, it’s easier first to find out what you don’t want before you can find out what you do. So you might look at these bold dresses and think, that’s something I would never wear but… do you know that? A statement collar or bridal blazer could be something that when you adorn it you don’t want to take it off. You might revel in the gasps of amazement from your adoring friends and family when you turn the corner to come down that matrimonial aisle, and for that we cannot blame you one bit.

So while you’re on the hunt for your bridal look, make an appointment to come see us and meet Mariam herself alongside her beautiful collection. You might not think you’re one of the brave and modern bridal women, but we happen to think otherwise.

Book in now while appointments last to try the collection on in store 6-8 March.
